PhD research projects open for application at Strasbourg Observatory in 2011.

The Astronomical Observatory in Strasbourg calls for applications to work on the PhD research projects listed below. Applicants should be fluent in English, in particular if they do not speak French. Foreign applications are welcome.

Funding is garanteed for only a fraction of the projects at this date. It will depend on the academic records of identified applicants not only at the Astronomical Observatory but also in other laboratories associated with the relevant local Doctoral School .

Any interested person should contact the supervisor(s) listed below as soon as possible . This can be done in English or French. Please do also keep the Director informed (herve.wozniak, followed by: @astro.unistra.fr). A fraction of the studentships might be attributed as soon as April 2011 (for a start in Fall 2011), but most of the decisions will be made between May and July.

Les personnes intéressées par ces sujets sont priées de contacter dès à présent les chercheurs concernés. Il est souhaitable qu'elles tiennent aussi le directeur de l'Observatoire informé de leur démarche (herve.wozniak, suivi de: @astro.unistra.fr). Les bourses seront attribuées par l'Ecole Doctorale des Sciences de la Terre, de l'Univers et de l'Environnement en fonction de priorités scientifiques locales ET du mérite des candidats. La sélection se fera en plusieurs tours, certaines bourses pouvant être attribuées dès avril 2011.
