Prediction of Positions of Sun and Moon
Joachim Köppen Strasbourg 2008
Below is a JAVA applet which gives a list of the predicted positions for
Sun, Moon, and the planets:
- enter the date and the time when you are likely to observe ...
I recommend to put in a time well before the actual observations
- click Celestial bodies and select the Sun or the Moon
- click Utilities and then List: above horizon
- you will get a list of positions, in steps of 15 min, for about the
next 40 hours and as long as the object is above the horizon
(if you like to know also the negative elevations, you can click
on the other List button ...)
- to print out this list, copy and paste it into e.g. Wordpad, store
in a file, and print it
- the list gives the true coordinates but also our
positions. The latter are already transformed into "our" values
for the ESA-Dresden telescope
For the determination of the solar or lunar surface temperature, you'll also
need the angular diameter which you'll find on a page with you call by
Show data on the body.
